COVID-19 cases soar in Quad-Counties, test positivity rate hits 35 percent in Douglas County
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 01/21/2022 - 10:00amIn the Quad Counties of Carson City, Douglas County, Lyon County and Storey County as of Jan. 19, there have been 27,191 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, and 419 people have died from COVID-19.
Test positivity rates have increased dramatically within the Quad Counties, with Douglas County taking the lead at nearly 35 percent. There are currently 43 COVID-19 patients hospitalized within the Quad-Counties.
Carson City Rotarians to learn about law enforcement stress management

Members of the Rotary Club of Carson City will learn how the officers in the Carson City Sheriff’s Office manage those challenges at the club’s next meeting, Tuesday, Jan. 25 at noon.
Carson City School District temporarily limits transportation services due to staffing shortage

There was a $3,000 donation made to the C.I.R.C.L.E.S. Initiative for its work combating long term poverty and a $1,000 donation to a long standing scholarship fund at WNC targeted for Carson City students.

And, while it is only the end of January, clean up chores and pruning have begun. After the huge wind storm a few weeks ago, where a gust of 96 mph was measured here in Washoe Valley, we had a lot of downed tree debris. Fortunately, there were no big branches or trees down, just hours of work picking up smaller materials.
