For third-consecutive year, Nevada National Guard to support local first responders during Formula 1’s 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix
In support of local emergency response agencies and first responders, about 130 Nevada National Guard Soldiers and Airmen will be activated near downtown Las Vegas on Nov. 20-22 to bolster response and medical capabilities during the third annual Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix.
This is the third straight year the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix has included support from the Nevada National Guard.
The deployment will encompass strategic locations, including race locations and two hospitals within the metropolitan areas. This proactive measure aims to mitigate the potential consequences of any security threat or emergency incident that may arise during largescale events in the Entertainment Capital of the World.
“The deployment is a testament to the ongoing partnership between the Nevada National Guard and local emergency response agencies, showcasing their commitment to public safety and effective collaboration in times of need,” said Col. Kyle Cerfoglio, Nevada National Guard Joint Staff director. “The Nevada National Guard represents the best of our community. We are Nevadans helping Nevadans.”
The Nevada National Guard supports a dual federal and state mission. One is in support of the President of the United States when service members are called into active duty service or Title 10 orders. These orders are federal and are usually in support of overseas contingency efforts.
The state mission usually is in response to natural or man-made disasters in Nevada or the U.S., such as the activation for Hurricane Hilary response or proactive measures during large events, such as annual New Year’s Eve support in Las Vegas (the attached photo shows members of the Nevada National Guard during the last New Year’s Eve celebration near downtown Las Vegas, Dec. 31, 2025).
These requests are initiated from local jurisdictions to the state level at Nevada Division of Emergency Management. Once the request reaches DEM, the Governor can approve or deny the need for a Nevada National Guard activation on State Active Duty (SAD) orders.
For Formula 1’s 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix, this is the same request and activation for support as the past two Formula 1 events in 2023 and 2024.
