Carson City and Lake Tahoe area road report through Dec. 28
Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of Dec. 22-28, 2014. Due to work in the median, there will be two-way traffic with flaggers on College Parkway between Ormsby Boulevard and College Drive from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22.
There will be restricted lanes on E. Fifth Street between Roop Street and Parkland Avenue from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Wednesday. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
There will be work on the shoulder of Fairview Drive between E. Fifth Street and Butti Way from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Wednesday.
The following sidewalk closures are scheduled to occur during daytime hours Monday through Wednesday and Friday:
— The west side of Carson Street between Proctor Street and Telegraph Street.
— The north side of Proctor Street between Carson Street and Curry Street.
Work in the Lake Tahoe Basin is suspended for winter. There are other Caltrans work projects slated this week outside the basin in the Sierra and foothills and along Interstate 80.
State Route 28 (Placer County): Utility work continues on Placer County’s $50 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. The project is installing curb and gutter, sidewalks, roundabouts, lighting and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $15.1 million project to replace the bridge over Sly Park Road in Pollock Pines. The project will also add sidewalks to both sides of Sly Park Road, curb and gutter and curb ramps. Completion is expected by the end of the year.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Bullion Bend Road to Sly Park Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect intermittent Sly Park Road ramp closures from 7 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Wednesday and intermittent alternating lane closures around the clock from midnight Monday to 6 a.m. Wednesday for punch-list work to finish the project.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $57 million project by El Dorado County to construct a new overcrossing over U.S. Highway 50, new on- and off-ramps with signalized intersections, and new bicycle and pedestrian facilities at Silva Valley Parkway in El Dorado Hills.
Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Brace Road to Magra Road: Work continues on a $36 million project to increase the vertical clearance of nine bridge structures in south Placer County to 16 feet, 6 inches. The vertical clearance will be increased on six structures by lifting the existing bridge deck and the other three will have the roadway below dug down.
Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Sierra College Boulevard to Newcastle Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures and on-ramp closures from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday for bridge work. Motorists also can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday on the Brace, Horseshoe Bar, King, Penryn, Gilardi and Magra overcrossings for bridge work.
Interstate 80 (Placer County) at Taylor Road in Roseville: Westbound motorists can expect the on-ramp closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Wednesday for a city maintenance operation.
Interstate 80 (Placer County) from the State Route 193 junction to the State 174 junction in Colfax: Eastbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures at various locations from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday for guardrail repairs.
Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Gold Run to Magra Road: Westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures at various locations from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday for guardrail repairs.
Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Haines Road to Bowman Road: Westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday for bridge maintenance.
