Seventh Annual 'Empty Bowls' in Carson City kicks off Saturday evening
The annual Empty Bowls fundraising night is underway and will continue throughout Saturday night.
Empty Bowls is an “international grassroots effort” to fight hunger around the world.
In our local community, volunteers work throughout the year to create handcrafted bowls. Each year, hundreds of bowls are crafted in Carson City for the purpose of the fundraiser.
On the night of the fundraiser, guests are then invited to a meal of soup and bread, and in exchange for a cash donation, guests are asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world.
The money raised is then donated to an organization working to end hunger and food insecurity.
This will be the seventh annual Empty Bowls Fundraising night in Carson City, which is once again hosted at the Carson Mall. Last year, over a thousand community members attended the festivities, helping those in need through their donations.
The fundraiser features live, holiday entertainment, a silent auction and raffle, and of course, the all-you-can-eat soup meal.
Get down to the Carson Mall tonight to experience this great fundraiser for yourself! Tickets are $15 at the door. All proceeds from the evening will be donated to FISH. The event will run until 8 p.m.
