New Smart Foodservice Warehouse Store in Carson City opens with ribbon cutting ceremony
Carson City’s latest food market opened to commercial business customers Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the grocery chain's newest store, located at 222 Fairview Drive in the Lowe’s shopping center next door to Office Depot.
“This is an important expansion for Carson City residents since a lot of our shoppers were commuting from Carson to our Reno store,” said Ben Wiseman, the Carson City store manager. “We’re local, we’re established, and we’re ready to fulfill the needs of the community.”
Smart Foodservice has been in business for over 60 years, said Wiseman, and this will be the second store in Northern Nevada.
The store is a bulk foods market similar to Costco, with a focus on supplying to businesses.
“With all the new restaurants in town, this will be great,” said Board of Supervisors member Lori Bagwell.
The ribbon was cut by Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell and Wiseman at noon.

A public grand opening celebration will be held tomorrow, Saturday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a raffle, prizes, food samples and other activities.
