Two Las Vegas men die in single-vehicle rollover early Monday west of Tonopah
Two Las Vegas residents died early Monday in a single vehicle rollover west of Tonopah on U.S. Highway 6 in Esmeralda County, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Roman Suslov and Mateo Silva-Medina, both 19, died at the scene of the accident after their vehicle went off the roadway and overturned, said NHP Trooper Duncan Duaber. the accident was reported at 12:38 a.m.
Preliminary crash investigation details indicate that the white Ford pickup driven Suslov and occupied by Silva-Medina was traveling westbound on Highway 6 when he allowed the pickup to drift over the centerline into the oncoming travel lane. Suslov steered the vehicle to the right causing it to rotate clockwise.
The pickup then continued to rotate and left the right roadway shoulder. The pickup overturned and came to rest on its top approximately 100 feet off the roadway edge, said Duaber. Both men succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead on scene by the Esmeralda County coroner.
Impairment is unknown at this time. Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Highway 6 is a two lane highway with one lane in either direction. The speed limit in the area is 70 mph.
