Carson City area weather: Sunny with warming trend, possible snow showers Thursday
Another winter storm is expected to impact the Sierra this Thursday with a slight possibility of snow showers for the Carson City region, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
Ahead of the snow, winds may gust to 80 mph or more along the crest and up to 50 mph in the lower elevations. Western Nevada valleys will most likely be ‘shadowed’ from the bulk of the precipitation. This leaves lower confidence in snow potential across western Nevada, according to the weather service.
Snow amounts in the map above are the current best estimates. Go here for the area forecast discussion for more in-depth information.
For the week, temperatures will warm up a bit for Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, with highs Monday near 40, Tuesday, in the low 40s, Wednesday in the mid 40s and Thursday in the lower 50s with the chance for rain or snow later in the day and into Thursday night.
