Carson City man arrested for allegedly removing tag at store, making exchange for gift card
A 58-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of felony burglary and misdemeanor obtaining money under false pretense, a sheriff’s deputy said.
Walter Anderson was taken into custody at 1:30 p.m. in the 3800 block of South Carson Street. According to the arrest report, a sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to Kohl’s in reference to a report of a larceny that happened. Loss prevention detained the suspect.
A deputy met with a loss prevention officer who stated they observed the man select a pair of pants, valued at $35.50, from the store. He was observed ripping the price tag from the pants. He then walked to customer service and returned the pants, receiving $35.50 on a gift card.
He then exited the store when he was stopped by loss prevention. Dispatch advised he was a convicted ex-felon, according to the arrest report. He was booked for suspicion of obtaining money under false pretense and burglary. Bail: $20,000.
— A 38-year-old transient, Allen Lucky Drennan, was booked into jail Tuesday for a felony failure to appear warrant issued Sept. 19, 2018 out of Carson City District Court. He’s being held without bail in lieu of a hearing.
— A 32-year-old transient was arrested Tuesday, noon in the 2600 block of Northgate Lane for a misdemeanor warrant out of Elko County issued Oct. 10, 2018.
