Carson City ice skaters warm up their turn skills at downtown rink opening
With ideal cold weather conditions and the holiday season now underway, children, teens and their families laced up their skates Friday and put the blades in motion for the opening of the Arlington Square Ice Skating Rink in downtown Carson City.
The facility is located at the corner of W. Robinson and N. Carson streets with skate sessions all day and into the night.
Hockey and figure skates are available to rent at $3 per person, although you are welcome to bring your own. Each skate session is $7 for those 13 and older. Youth ages 3-12 years old are only $5, but must be accompanied by an adult. Discounted punch passes and group rates are available. A heated tent is also available to rent for private parties and includes a discount for skaters.
Please note: ice rink hours are dependent on weather and ice conditions. During inclement or unseasonably warm days, please call the Arlington Square Ice Rink HOTLINE at 775-283-7629 to check on conditions.
For more information, go to the Carson City Parks and Recreation's Arlington Square Ice Rink webpage here, and here for Frequently Asked Questions. It’s suggested that you follow them on Facebook here for special events, theme nights, and updates. The rink will be open throughout the winter as long as the weather cooperates, but the tentative end of the season is Feb. 6, 2016.
