Reno Philharmonic warms up for the holidays Dec. 6-7 with Spirit of the Season
Get in the holiday spirit with the Reno Philharmonic’s classic holiday celebration, Spirit of the Season, Dec. 6 and 7 at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. An annual audience favorite for the whole family, Spirit of the Season features the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus, northern Nevada’s largest performing arts organization, and special guests to create a variety show-style concert like no other.
Spirit of the Season’s special guests include local performing groups such as the A.V.A. Ballet Theatre, the Sierra Nevada Children’s Choir, a 24-harp ensemble, the UNR Percussion Ensemble, the Santa Tappers, Fascinating Rhythm dancers, Santa Claus and – back by popular demand – the talented pooches of JR Johns’ Dog Gone Silly. The music program includes holiday music favorites and classic carols such as We Need a Little Christmas, Angel’s Carol, Hanukah Fantasy, a Holly Jolly Sing-Along and music from Frozen. An estimated 250 musicians, singers, dancers and performers join to celebrate the season in this festive holiday concert.
The Reno Philharmonic offers three Spirit of the Season performances. Saturday, Dec. 6 includes two shows, a 2 p.m. matinee and an 8 p.m. show.
