Carson Nugget’s 62nd Annual Community Thanksgiving Feast held Nov. 28
For over six decades, the Carson City Nugget has fed the community a free Thanksgiving Feast. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, pie, and more are all served up by local volunteers including those from FISH, the Carson City Board of Supervisors, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, and dozens of cheerful community members lending a helping hand.
Each year, over 2,000 pounds of turkey are cooked up by the Nugget’s executive chef and staff, with the turkeys donated by FISH and other local organizations.
The cooking process generally starts about a week ahead of time.
FISH and local churches also make the rounds throughout the community to those who may not be able to make it to the Nugget, and deliver meals to around 200 people who are homebound. FISH volunteers sit and enjoy a meal together to help share a bit of holiday cheer.
The Feast will begin at 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, and will run until 1 p.m. at the Carson Nugget, 507 N. Carson Street in the upstairs banquet room.
