The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (800-720-ODWF) (www.dfw.state.or.us.com) reports:
Chinook fishing was pretty good last weekend with excellent river conditions. Low and clear water this week has made for a little tougher fishing, but boats back bouncing eggs or running plugs have been picking up 2 or 3 chinook a day. Chinook numbers should build all week in the lower river and estuary as flows drop and clear. Anglers should keep an eye on the river flow and look for some excellent chinook fishing up river when the next weather system moves through. Steelhead fishing should improve by the end of the month and into December.

COMINS LAKE, WHITE PINE COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports: A few bass have been showing up, but no trout due to the pike infestation. Pike fishing has also been poor. There are few if any trout left in the lake also due to the pike infestation.

CROWLEY LAKE, CALIF:
Closes November 15.

CROWLEY LAKE, CALIF:
Kent Rianda of The Trout Fly and Troutfitter (760-934-2517) (www.thetroutfitter.com) reports:
Water Conditions: The lake has come back up some but still at the lowest point we have seen in over 20 years. Water temps are between 50 and 54 in most of the lake. Find the warmest water and you will find fish.
Algae is pretty much history and it is very clear in many areas.
Cold mornings now so no need to show up before 9 am and bite really gets going about 10.
Fishing Conditions: Marina is now closed for the season, access via north arm for float tubes and shore fishing through 11/15.
Fair. Hilton, McGee and Crooked are pretty much done for with a few small fish on the west side of McGee.
Fish are now holding in north end, Six Bays and Leighton.
Bad news is the big fish are spread out so you have to wait between smaller fish to have one come by.
Sandy- mostly small, Six Bays - mostly big but fewer grabs and off and on from day to day.
Leighton - small to medium in shallows like 5 ft and mix of sizes with some big ones out in 10-12ft.
Fishing from the shore in late afternoon in Six Bays and along Green Banks has also been good.

CROWLEY LAKE, CALIF:
Tom Loe of Sierra Drifters Fly Fishing Guide Service (760-935-4250) (www.sierradrifters.com) reports:
Closes on November 15th. Did not fish very well the last two weeks. Streamers were best and the catching was very spotty with most of the fish seeking deeper water early in the month.
Lake is filling and up two feet since the low point. Good numbers planted this fall, should be good next year depending on water level.

DAVIS LAKE, CALIF:
Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association (530-365-7500) (www.shastacascade.com) reports:
For boaters trolling has been good with copper/red head Wee Dick Nites and red-dot frog Needlefish. Best results at 5 ft deep around the island.
Fly fishing has improved for float tubers using intermediate sinkers in the Fairview, Mosquito Slough, and Freeman Creek areas.
Make sure to call ahead to see if there is snow at the ramp at Camp 5.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR, LINCOLN COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
Rainbow and tiger trout have been very productive for fly fishermen using Wooly Buggers in both brown and black. One lucky angler brought in an 18-inch rainbow while another caught and released 14 tiger trout and eight rainbows in the space of a few hours.

FALL RIVER, CALIF:
Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association (530-365-7500) (www.shastacascade.com) reports:

FEATHER RIVER, CALIF:
Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association (530-365-7500) (www.shastacascade.com) reports:

FRENCHMAN RESERVOIR, CALIF:
Wiggin’s Trading Post at Chilcoot (530-993-4683) reports:
We’ve had some changeable weather conditions at Frenchman Lake this week - some snow and much colder temperatures. You can still make it around the lake , but with the colder temperatures you may encounter some ice on the road so use caution.
The fishing has slowed up a bit, but those who venture out are catching some nice trout in the 12" to 16" range.
The standard baits are working well - nightcrawlers and power bait.
They are still putting boats in at Lunker Point and doing well trolling nightcrawlers and flashers.
The streams will be closing this Wednesday, November 15th, but the lake is open for fishing year round.
Call us for updates on current conditions.

Tom Loe of Sierra Drifters Fly Fishing Guide Service (760-935-4250) (www.sierradrifters.com) reports:
Not much has changed here this fall. The flows are very low and you will find half the normal water that you are accustomed to fishing here weed free, or deep enough to make extended drifts.
Fishing is good in the deeper sections with a strong baetis hatch well after lunch. Small midges are also a good choice, especially as the weather continues to cool.
Access remains very good as of 11-13-12.

HOT CREEK, CALIF:
Kent Rianda of The Trout Fly and Troutfitter (760-934-2517) (www.thetroutfitter.com) reports:
Water Conditions: Good
Flows at 18 CFS as of 11/12.

Anglers are catching limits along the river.
Don’t forget to push down those barbs on your hooks for an easier time with catch and release. Night crawlers, Jakes Spin-a-lures, or Panther Martins in yellow or gold colorations are working well.

This week fishing has been good for stripers in the Vegas and Kingman wash areas. Success has come mostly to those anglers using jigging lures and some using live bait. Top-water lures also are catching fish.
Action has been good for lar
The weather has the fish a little confused but with the cold front coming in for the weekend the cooler temperatures should be here to stay.
This will also help to bring in the bigger stripers.

LAKE MOHAVE, CLARK COUNTY, NEV:
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (www.ndow.org) reports:
At Cottonwood Cove the news is turtles, which have been taking baits meant for striped bass and catfish.
Anglers using anchovies have caught striped bass as large as 6- to 7-pounds and catfish in the 3- to 5-pound class. Despite low water level fishing has been good for trout at Willow Beach.

OWENS RIVER, CALIF:
Kent Rianda of The Trout Fly and Troutfitter (760-934-2517) (www.thetroutfitter.com) reports:
Upper Owens River:
Water Conditions: Good. As of 11/12 the flows are at 158 CFS.
Fishing Conditions: Good. With flows this high, best to stick to sink tip or full sink lines (depending on whether ot not you need to mend) and fish streamers in the deeper slower water.
Section below the bridge to the monument closed as of October 1st.
Owens River Gorge water conditions: Great. Flow: 45 CFS.
This is a permanent flow required to be maintained by LADWP
Fishing Conditions: No recent report.
Rock Creek: Road closed as of November 1st.
Rush Creek:
Water conditions: Fair. As of 11/12 flows are 43 CFS above Grant Lake and 50 CFS Below.
Fishing Conditions: Good. No recent reports.
Lower Owens River: Water conditions:
Fair. Flows are at 205 CFS as of 11/12.
Fishing conditions: Well, the moment we've all been waiting for has arrived.
Flows are now prime for wading.
If it gets fairly cold down there, Tricos may be finished. For right now though we're still fishing Baetis patterns from mid-morning on.

OWENS RIVER, CALIF:
Tom Loe of Sierra Drifters Fly Fishing Guide Service (760-935-4250) (www.sierradrifters.com) reports:
Lower Owens River: Perfect. Flows have been steady at 205 CFS for a while, and the Bishop Creek has lowered to winter release rates.
The BWO hatch has been the hot ticket this week with a huge emergence of the #18 mayflies coming off in force at 1pm & continuing through 3ish.
The fish seem to kick back for the morning, then begin a steady feeding cycle starting on the nymphs & continuing until the sun hits the Sierra crest.
Birds nest, flash back pheasant tails, and broken back midges will all get grabs for nymphing, while most dun to olive colored adult mayfly imitations in the 16/18 range will get smacked on the surface.
Streamer fishing has also been very good using moderate sinking tip lines.
Crystal leeches, Agent Orange, and Spruce-a-Bu’s work well this time of year using the “dip & strip” technique in the deeper pools.
One change I have noted since the cooler weather has become the norm is that the fish have migrated into the deeper pools for the most part. They will head to the tail outs when the BWO’s come off, however look for more consistent action in the larger holes and softer water.
Trout are cold blooded and their metabolic rates are proportional to the water temp. As the sun gets higher and the gravel beds warm, you will see the fish become more active this time of year. This is the opposite of what we observed during the warmer weather earlier this fall.
GUIDE TIP: Can’t tell you how many double hernias I have seen over the last fifteen years as clients struggle to put on frozen boots and waders after leaving the gear over night in their vehicles.
One should keep your wading gear and boots in your motel room or RV for the evening or deal with frozen items in the morning.
Use a heavy trash bag or wet gear bag to keep the mud from messing up the rooms please.
A good way to kill invasive species like the New Zealand Mud Snail is to leave the gear outside in freezing conditions the night before you leave if you aren’t planning on fishing of course!
Upper Owens River: Flows have come down a tad but remain on the high side making nymphing the deeper, more productive pools a bitch to get your imitations down too.
Look for a significant drop after Thanksgiving, (I like 80- 100cfs).
It has been cold in the mornings recently, and you will not see a decent hatch until 2 pm most days.
Small mayfly patterns #18-22 work well on the rising afternoon browns and rainbows. Numbers continue to be good here for catchable sized trout.
The bigs are still MIA with only a few nice fish staging up on the gravel.
The extremely low lake level on Crowley & low flows of the Upper Owens in October made it very difficult for the larger fish to migrate up the shallow inlet section. This is why McGee Bay does not have a great fall migration most years. I am optimistic we will get a good jag of bigs moving soon and are keeping a close watch on this area for our “snow bow” trips this winter.
SJ worms and imitation egg patterns are good for colder periods, use Assassin’s birds nest or FB PT’s, broken back & tiger midges for nymphing.
You need lots of weight to get those bugs down in the deeper pools-two AB shot is not out of the equation in some holes.
After Nov.15th you may only fish upstream from the Benton Bridge, ZERO limit-barbless artificial lures or flies only.

PIT RIVER, CALIF:
Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association (530-365-7500) (www.shastacascade.com) reports:
Fishing is good! There has been a good October Caddis but now dwindling into November. Fire damage is slight, beauty if the river still intact. Fishing is consistent all day, mid-day fishing is productive and there are always a few fish feeding at the surface near sunset.
— Courtesy of The Fly Shop

PLEASANT VALLEY RESERVOIR, CALIF:
Tom Loe of Sierra Drifters Fly Fishing Guide Service (760-935-4250) (www.sierradrifters.com) reports:
With power generation dropping and the flows stable you will find some excellent fly fishing in the inlet and gorge sections of this area.
I enjoy fishing the transition section with a dry/dry or dry/dropper bead head combo as well as the lower gorge and small river section downstream from the generation facility.
Tiger midges and Assassin’s are deadly here. you can also get some of the best dry fly action around in the pillow water near the lake.
The fish will pod up and sip adult mayflies and chironomids in the foam after the water warms a bit.
The reservoir level can fluctuate greatly here on a weekly basis, so if it is too high near the lake head back up and hike into the Gorge for some great wild brown trout fishing. It requires accurate casting in the brush, & an upstream presentation is a must.
Another option is tubing the reservoir this time of year. I call it “freeze tubing” but it can be very pleasant at times during the warmer periods.
This area is heavily planted and has some nice hold over and wild fish as well. Streamer and still water nymphing techniques are both used effectively here-it fishes just like Crowley.
Fish the drop-offs; I prefer the far side to avoid confrontations with bank fishers. The lake can be crowded on weekends and holidays especially near the launch ramp where it is planted.
The Gorge will be less trafficked.

SACRAMENTO RIVER (LOWER), CALIF:
Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association (530-365-7500) (www.shastacascade.com) reports:
