Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: DUI felon busted for drunk driving again
A 56 year-old Grass Valley, CA, woman was arrested Friday morning at 5:08 a.m. in the park-and-ride lot off U.S. Highway 50 West near Spooner Junction for felony driving under the influence (DUI), a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.
Lonnie Debra McCaffree was taken into custody for DUI with a prior felony DUI record after a Sheriff's deputy was called to the area on report of a possible DUI driver.
The reporting party (RP) told Carson City Dispatch that the suspect vehicle was observed swerving, crossing the double yellow line twice, driving at an inconsistent speed, and failing to maintain a lane, the report said.
Law enforcement located a vehicle approaching the Park and Ride lot that matched the RP's description, traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 50 toward Spooner Junction at a high rate of speed estimated to be above the posted 50 miles per hour (mph) speed limit.
As the deputy attempted to make a traffic stop, the suspect vehicle was observed swerving left and almost striking the center median barrier. It crossed the intersection onto Interstate 580 before finally coming to a stop, the report said.
Contact was made with the driver, who identified herself as McCaffree. During questioning, the deputy noted an alcoholic smell coming from McCaffree's breath, the report said.
McCaffree admitted to having consumed three white russians at a Lake Tahoe casino before driving down the mountain toward Carson City.
A records check through dispatch showed McCaffree had a suspended driver's license for a prior DUI arrest. Records also revealed a criminal history with a prior felony DUI conviction out of California in 2012.
McCaffree consented to standard field sobriety testing (FST), but stopped during the procedure because she said she was too cold, the report said.
She did, however, consent to a preliminary breath test (PBT), the results of which yielded breath alcohol content (BAC) of .085 percent.
Considering the totality of the evidence, McCaffree was subsequently handcuffed and placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
She was transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $20,724.
In other arrests:
— A 25 year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday afternoon at 2:45 p.m. at the Carson City Detention Center on an active misdemeanor bench warrant issued by Douglas County District Court, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.
According to the arrest report, the man was already serving time at the Carson City Jail when staff received a fax from Douglas County Department of Alternative Sentencing (DAS) showing a bench warrant.
The outstanding warrant, issued for failing a drug test and testing positive for methamphetamine, was confirmed through Douglas County, the report said.
The man was then booked on that warrant. Bail: $10,000.
