Woman shot dead in Gardnerville, suspect in custody after exchanging gunfire with deputies

UPDATE: A woman was found fatally shot early this morning on a street in Gardnerville. The suspect in the shooting is in custody after he was also shot and was taken to the hospital, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to 1200 block of Manhattan Way for reported domestic violence call with shots fired. At approximately 1:24 am, Douglas County deputies responded to the residence on Manhattan Way.
Upon arrival deputies located a female who had been fatally shot in the street, said Douglas County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Pat Brooks. While attempting to make contact at the residence, deputies encountered the suspect who began shooting at the deputies. None of the deputies were struck by gun fire however, during the exchange of gunfire, the suspect was struck.
The suspect ran from the scene and was later located and taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The identity of the victim is being withheld until the family has been notified.
An update will be released as soon as available. Carson City Sheriff's Office detectives have been called to assist in the investigation.

Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies are investigating a shooting early Tuesday morning in which the suspect fled the scene, exchanging gunfire with deputies. The suspect is now in custody. At least one person was also injured and taken to the hospital. It is unclear how many other people were injured or if there were fatalities.
The incident happened before 1:30 a.m. somewhere between the areas of 1200 Kingston Way, with a foot pursuit that extended from Manhattan Way, Sorenson, Pioche, and Tillman. There were multiple 911 calls to dispatch of people hearing gunshots. Two Carson City sheriff's deputies responded to the scene after a call out for assistance by Douglas County authorities.
A foot pursuit followed. The suspect was later found in the area of Kingston Lane and taken into custody. The suspect was wounded by gunfire but apparently not critically injured because he ran several blocks from police, jumping fences and cutting through yards. Information via police dispatch scanner is there was at least one other person injured but that it was not a law officer.
