Brush fire knocked down, fire marshal investigates
UPDATE: 4:07PM: A brush fire that swept through Dayton on Wednesday afternoon has been contained with firefighters now mopping up, said Lyon County Manager Jeff Page. The fire, which started before 2 p.m., burned between 1.5 to 2 acres in the Grosh Avenue area. One structure, a mobile home, burned and one person was treated for smoke inhalation.
Approximately 55 firefighters remained on the scene as of 4 p.m. Assisting with the fire were: Central Lyon Fire Protection District, Carson City Fire Department, firefighters from Storey County, Mason Valley, the Bureau of Land Management, Nevada Division of Forestry. East Fork Fire Protection District provided district coverage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

2:57PM: According to Dayton resident Donna O'Brien who has been listening to the police scanner, the blaze began in the area of Grosh Avenue and moved to the west. Evacuations were done on that end of Rose Peak. A Fire marshal has been requested.
"As far as I can tell they have pretty good knockdown right now, of course the wind is not helping the situation," said O'Brien.

Multiple fire engines have been called Wednesday afternoon for a brush fire burning off of Grosh Avenue in Dayton. According to dispatch reports, there are structures threatened and evacuations are underway near the Rose Peak area.
Multiple fire trucks are responding including those from Carson City. The fire is moving west toward Rose Peak with structures threatened and evacuations underway, according to dispatch. There's been a report of a travel trailer and an outbuilding that is burning.
