Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch reports smoky skies as a result of a handful of lightning-ignited fires burning overnight in the northern Nevada region, including a fire in the Brunswick Canyon area east of Carson City.
The largest of the fires that began Saturday remains in Brunswick Canyon, five to 10 miles from any structure, and was said to be growing at a moderate rate, according to a Sierra Front spokeswoman. As far as air attack, one single engine air tanker was dropping loads on the fire Saturday night. The fire was reported to be around 29 acres and growing. A ground crew was ordered and made its way into the fire area.

Smoke from the fires is lingering in Carson City. A line of thunderstorms stretching through the region likely sparked the afternoon and early evening fires.
