Carson City authorities arrest six in early morning gang gun fight

Six people have been arrested and more are being sought after 30 gun shots were fired in what appears to be a gang-related shooting between rivals this morning at a Carson City apartment complex off of Menlo Drive near Lompa Lane.

No injuries are known at this time, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, following the gun fight in which multiple shots were fired from weapons in the neighborhood of 1549 Lompa Lane, an apartment complex, where a party was going on.

"It is unknown how many people were out there. Witnesses said people scattered everywhere," Furlong said.

Drugs are a part of the investigation, with an ounce of methamphetamine recovered from an apartment during a SWAT investigation, Furlong added.

Included in the arrest are the apartment manager and his wife. Both face aiding and abetting charges and drug charges.

Of the six arrested, four of the suspects were found by a SWAT team deputy hiding inside the apartment manager's home.

The manager had told authorities he had lost his keys and was locked out. Both he and his wife were arrested for obstructing, Furlong said. Found inside the manager's apartment was a "small quantity" of methamphetamine and a marijuana grow.

Several vehicles including two trucks have multiple bullet holes in them and shattered glass fragments are scattered around as other windows were shot out. One truck remains in the parking lot in the clusters of apartment buildings, located at Lompa and Menlo. The call was initially reported at 2710 Menlo Drive. More than six calls were placed to 911 emergency dispatch.

The incident was reported at 1:26 a.m. Arrests continued to be made into this morning, and search warrants have been issued at homes in Carson City after the shooting. According to scanner traffic arrests warrants were approved by Carson City Municipal Court Judge Robey Willis into the early morning.

There is significant property damage in the shooting area, Furlong said, emphasizing that detectives are still trying to piece together the events that led to the event

"I want to emphasize that there are no injuries known to us at this time," Furlong said. "We are still investigating."

Among those being sought, according to a Carson Now reader who had heard some of the events on his police scanner were two men and a woman, driving a vehicle, possibly from the Mound House area. That part of the investigation is unknown.

Spent shells have been found throughout the shooting area, near the trucks, and around buildings. A 12-pack of beer was sitting on the outside window sill of an apartment. Apparently the gang members had set up a clubhouse area near the two apartment complexes where they would party, Furlong said.
