Gusty winds in forecast prompt Red Flag Warning for Thursday
With low humidity and gusty winds expected to arrive creating critical fire conditions, the National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Red Flag Warning from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday.
Low pressure off the California coast will move into Oregon Thursday night bringing strong southwest winds Thursday plus a very dry air mass that will lower the humidity throughout the Sierra and much of Western Nevada, according to the weather service,
Winds will be from the South to Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts 35 to 40 mph and humidity at 5 to 12 percent. The combination of gusty winds and low humidity will create critical fire weather conditions.
