In this edition of It's Your City, host Cortney Bloomer sits down with David Bugli with the Mile High Jazz Band Association to talk about Carson City Jazz and Beyond 2019.
The 16th Annual Jazz and Beyond Carson City Music and Art Festival is August 9-25, 2019. It is a homegrown event celebrating the talent of our region and features 17 days of music, art, and film at multiple venues in Carson City. Jazz and Beyond will feature more than 100 musicians in 50 or more events. See the video interview below or here.
For 2019, Jazz and Beyond will feature outstanding regional jazz artists who play in venues such as Bob McFadden Plaza (Third Street Stage), Silver Saddle Ranch, the Saturday Morning Farmers Market, Comma Courtyard, Comma Coffee, the Brewery Arts Center, Capital Amphitheater, Bliss Mansion, The Governor’s Mansion, Nevada State Museum, Silver Oak Golf Course, Living the Good Life, and more.
The festival opens at the historic Bliss Mansion, northeast corner Mountain and Robinson streets. An art show and sale on the porch at 4:00 p.m. features artists from the Nevada Artists Association. Music begins at 4:30 p.m. with the Rocky Tatarelli Band. Move across the street to the Governor’s Mansion at 6:30 p.m. for Cherie Shipley with the Take This band.
Organizers will also be doing the First Carson City Open Studios Art Tour in several locations on August 24. Most events are free. For a complete lineup of events, where to get tickets and more go to http://jazzcarsoncity.com
The Jukebox International Film Festival (JIFF), sponsored by Wired Wednesday, will take place Aug. 20 through 22, in the last week of Jazz and Beyond. All screening events at JIFF are free. Go here for more information.
