Fire agencies called to large structure fire in Dayton

UPDATE 5:17PM: Central Lyon County Fire District reports that both homes in Wednesday's fire in Dayton have been destroyed. Units from surrounding fire agencies remain on scene doing mop up operations.
Central Lyon County Fire confirms two bystanders were transported to a local hospital for possible smoke related injuries. The American Red Cross is assisting one family of three and a local church is assisting the other family of three to four people. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Nevada State Fire Marshals Office.

UPDATE 3:38PM: The fire incident command at the structure fire that destroyed two homes on Rose Peak Road in Dayton said the fire is officially knocked down and out and that mop-up begins on the structures, according to dispatch. The cause of the fire is under investigation. One person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

UPDATE: 215PM: Firefighters have been able to get the upper hand on a fire that has destroyed two homes on Rose Peak in Dayton, according to Lyon County Manager Jeff Page.
Firefighters have brought in heavy equipment and are doing mop up around the structures, he said. Multiple fire agencies responded to the fire, including Carson City, Storey County, East Fork Fire, North Lyon Fire and Mason Valley Fire departments.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office and Road Department are assisting with traffic control and firefighting operations. One person has been transported to a local hospital for possible smoke inhalation.

UPDATE: 1:22PM: Fire units have also been moved into the area for wildland protection on the Smith' side of the incident off of Rose Peak in Dayton to assure the fire doesn't spread into brush, according to dispatch.

Central Lyon County Fire Protection District was called Wednesday afternoon to a large structure fire on Rose Peak in Dayton near the Smith's grocery store. Carson City Fire Department has also been requested for mutual assistance.
The fire is reportedly burning two homes, according to Lyon County Fire Protection District. It started shortly before 12:30 p.m.
According to witnesses there are two homes burning that are fully involved with smoke and flames. Other fire agencies have also been called in to assist.
Both homes have been evacuated, according to dispatch. One resident from one of the homes is being assessed for smoke inhalation. Lyon County Sheriff's Office is also responding. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
People are advised to stay clear of the area to allow for fire department trucks to arrive.
