Weather Service: Showers and thunderstorms possible, heat to build over weekend
UPDATE 730PM: The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Douglas County in western Nevada and Alpine County in Calif. Thunderstorms producing heavy rain were reported across the Carson Range west of Foothill Road. Flash flooding is expected. Rock slides, debris flows are possible. The warning is until 8:30 p.m.

Showers and thunderstorms from a southerly monsoon flow begun to spread north late Thursday afternoon and may bring cloud to ground lightning, localized heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and small hail around the western Nevada region and into Alpine and Mono County, Calif., according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
At 3:53 p.m. Thursday, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms between Woodfords and Markleeville in Alpine County, Calif. Heavy rainfall may result in flash flooding, rock/debris flows, ponding of water on roadways and increased flows on streams, according to the weather service. A Flood Advisory has been issued until 7 p.m.
Drier conditions will return this weekend and early next week as high pressure expands across the region.
High temperatures will likely reach or exceed 100 degrees for lower valleys with mid to upper 80's in the Sierra valleys by Sunday. Be prepared if recreating outdoors and have a “Plan B”. Stay cool and don’t be a fool by leaving children or pets alone in a vehicle.
