Carson City seeks input from residents, visitors and users of JAC Transit to improve service
Throughout the COVID pandemic, Carson City's JAC Transit constantly evaluated and made a number of adjustments to transit operations to ensure no services were lost and to provide a safe environment for transit users, including: free fares for our riders, implemented enhanced sanitation protocols, distributed no-cost face coverings, and provided transport to vaccination appointments.
Because of these efforts and the commitment of JAC’s operations staff and our passengers, JAC’s ridership was down just 30 percent between April and June of 2020, compared to a national decline of 70 percent over the same period. This past year of change and adaptability has prompted JAC to further explore and pursue new ways to improve service.
These pursuits include the receipt of grant funding to implement system-wide WiFi and new options for electronic and contact-less fare payments for our riders. These enhancements are currently being developed and planned to be rolled out in the next few months.
Additionally, to continue to best serve our community, Carson City staff are looking at opportunities for route and stop adjustments so we can better serve existing and new customers at more destinations.
To make sure we’re making the right adjustments, we are seeking input from the community. Please call, email, or participate in our 2021 Service Enhancement Survey, available through July 31st here: www.RideJAC.com.
