Hop and Mae Adams Foundation's downtown Carson City project breaks ground
The Hop and Mae Adams Foundation was joined by local dignitaries to break ground Wednesday on a much-anticipated, mixed-use project in Carson City’s downtown historic district.
The parcel bounded by Curry, Nevada, Telegraph and Proctor streets will soon be graced by a handsome, historically-inspired three-story complex that will include more than 10,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, 11,000 square feet of office space and 10 upscale apartments.
In the photo from left to right are: Hop and Mae Adams Foundation trustee Steve Neighbors, Tom Metcalf of Metcalf Builders, Inc., foundation trustee Chris MacKenzie, project architect Rob Darney, Carson City Supervisor Brad Bonkowski, Mayor Bob Crowell, and foundatioin trustee Ed Ahrens.
The architecture showcases rich exterior textures and luxurious design details that complement and embrace the historic style of Nevada’s capital city. Against a stunning backdrop of the Sierra Nevada, the buildings’ rich woods, brilliant metals, brick and stone will create a distinctive sense of place.
The complex will be a destination that amplifies the appeal of the soon-to-be-completed, pedestrian-friendly Carson City downtown.
The project includes:
— Street-level retail spaces and a restaurant location, highlighted by inviting patio seating
— Class A Office space on the second level with state-of-the-art IT infrastructure
— Luxurious 2 and 3 bedroom apartments with private balconies, private elevator access, and private garages.
The building is located at the intersection of Curry and Proctor streets across from Adams Hub for Innovation, a recent Hop & Mae Adams Foundation program that includes a startup business incubator and co-working center.
The 308 N Curry St. project, which is already attracting high levels of interest from potential commercial and residential tenants, is projected to be completed in spring, 2017.
Founded in 2008, The Hop and Mae Adams Foundation is a charitable foundation of Mae Adams. She left her family’s legacy to assist the Carson City community. The Foundation embraces Mae’s convictions by providing career and educational tools to help community members help themselves. HMAF encourages collaboration and innovation.
