Fourth annual Carson City Off-Road returns this Friday through Sunday

Hosted by Epic Rides, the fourth annual Carson City Off-Road will cruise the local mountainsides and the streets of the capital city's downtown this Friday through Sunday.

The event is slated for a record turnout. More than 900 riders have already registered with more expected to cruise by the state capital. All participants will ride their way into the eastern edge of the Sierra Nevada all while soaking in the views of Lake Tahoe, Washoe Valley and Carson Valley.

Both amateur and professionals will course through pieces of single track, double track, gravel and narrow roads and several historic streets in Carson City.

The Capital 15 Fun Ride at 2:30 p.m. in Carson St. will kick-off a jam-packed Friday to begin the Carson City Off Road Series. El Yucateco hot sauce also will bring the heat with the El Yucateco Flat Tire Crits at downtown Carson City.

The free Klunker Crit ride for all ages will take place at 6 p.m. followed by the Women’s Pro Crit Race at 6:15 p.m. The Men’s Pro Crit Race will follow soon after at 7 p.m.

No matter the amount of laps, all participants must wear helmets. Gloves and eye protection are recommended for a safe ride.

The Fourth Annual Carson City Off-Road is dedicated to Carson City native and visionary trails community leader, Joel Dunn. Born and raised in Carson City, Dunn has not only witnessed the evolution of Nevada's state capital but has also been a driving force in its transition into a recreation-focused community.

Dunn saw the impact mountain biking had on other American West communities like Prescott, Moab, Sedona, and Park City, and thought it might work for Carson City as well. Carson had the land and the trails, now they just needed the people and a way to bring them in.

Live music at the Four Peaks Brewing Company will take place all three days with performances from Keller Williams and the Hillbenders Saturday at 8:30 p.m. on Carson St. Four Peaks Brewing Co. will be serving a refreshing beer garden for interested attendees.
