Rat-rods, races, classic rides highlight CTR Rockabilly Riot in Mills Park
Festivities continued early Saturday at Mills Park as the Rockabilly Riot Car Show launches another jam packed weekend in Carson City. Coinciding with the Iron Horse Training Challenge, hot rod enthusiasts by the hundreds filed into the parking grounds to feast their eyes on some truly spectacular custom made and souped up classics.
Cars, trucks, and rat rods from different eras parked under the shade certainly catches the eyes of anyone walking through. Among those showing is Jason Poh, an owner of a 1930 Model A sport-coat who says he enjoys the car show as much as he enjoys showing his car.
“I like seeing everyone here marvel at these beauties," he said. "And for someone who makes them, that’s why we build them to show them off and ride.”
More events such as various car themed games, burn-outs, drag races, live music, horseshoe tournaments, dine and dash, and test runs will keep the Riot buzzing throughout the day. The drag competition, memorial tribute, and slow cruise continue into the evening, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Sunday, June 25 will cap off the Rockabilly Riot in Mills Park. Drag races and trophy presentations will take place at 1:00 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. A locals only car show hosted by the Iron Rebels Car Club will also take place at 10 a.m.
