Carson City arrests: Man with Douglas warrant alleging sex crimes jailed Sunday
A 38-year-old man was arrested early Sunday for a warrant alleging sexual assault of a child and lewdness with a child under the age of 14, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
David Russell Slate, listed as a transient and in the warrant listed from Gardnerville, was taken into custody at 2:33 a.m. at a casino in the 3300 block of Highway 50 East. The warrant with the two charges was issued June 11, 2017 out of the 9th District Court in Douglas County.
According to the arrest report, a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Gang Officer provided information to Carson City deputies regarding the suspect and where they could locate him. Deputies found the man and made the arrest. He will be extradited to Douglas County. Bail: $100,000.
In other arrests:
— A 37-year-old transient, Joshua David Collins, was arrested Sunday, 7:22 p.m. in the 900 block of Corbett Street for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said. Deputies located a baggie in the passenger side of a vehicle that contained a chewed piece of gum and methamphetamine. Bail: $2,637.
— A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 4:11 a.m. in the area of Musser and Nevada streets for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and driving without a valid license.
According to the arrest report, a man was observed getting into his vehicle and driving down the center of the roadway, not using any turn signals and made several traffic violations. He was stopped by a Carson City deputy.
The man submitted to standardized field sobriety tests and showed impairment. He had a preliminary breath test with a .138. The man had an instruction permit only and did not have a valid license. He was arrested. At jail he provided breath samples of .114 and .103. Bail: $1,329.
— A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 10:38 p.m. in the area of Stanford and Stanton streets for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, using a cell phone while driving and failure to use due care, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched after a man hit a parked trailer. Witnesses stated they observed the man use his cell phone while driving before he hit the trailer. The witnesses filled out statement identifying the man as the driver who hit their trailer.
A deputy made contact with the driver who showed signs of impairment, including slurred speech, red, watery eyes and was swaying. He stated he had two beers, the arrest report states. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI, use of a cell phone while driving and failure to use due care. He consented to evidentiary breath tests and provided samples of .085 and .081. Bail: $1,441.
