Free tow service available for June 27 Carson City Battle Born 1864 Brews, Bikes and Bubbly
The “Extreme Tow” program for Battle Born 1864 Brews, Bikes & Bubbly will be available on Saturday, June 27, 2015, from 6pm to 2am on, Sunday, June 28, 2015. The program is intended for motorist who feel they may have had too much to drink and cannot drive home safely.
Any motorist can call one of the listed Carson City Tow company phone numbers on a card that is provided to them. The motorist will be provided a free tow and a ride home during the designated time from one of the listed Carson City Tow companies. The purpose of the program is to reduce the number of intoxicated motorist on our roads by offering them a safer alternative for getting home.
PROGRAM DETAILS:
• Potential passengers, party hosts, bartenders, restaurant managers or any one that wants to ensure a safe ride home for an intoxicated motorist may contact one of the listed Carson City Tow companies for this service.
• Services will NOT be provided to motorist requesting a tow to another drinking establishment, repair facility or any other location other than their home (in some cases a tow to a hotel may be allowed if the motorist is, or plans to become, a guest).
• Other services not covered are: request to start a vehicle, flat tire change, gas delivery, ”taxi” service and request to transport more than two people with the vehicle.
• Payment for “Extreme Tow” mileage beyond ten miles will be the responsibility of the member or motorist. We suggest that drivers quote any excess mileage charges and obtain agreement for payment prior to providing the tow.
PROCESS:
• Motorist will contact one of the listed tow companies on the list and request an “Extreme Tow”. If the tow company contacted is currently busy or has been inundated with tows due to the event, the tow company can request the motorist contact another company on the list or recommend one of the other companies.
• If there are no keys to the vehicle, or if there is anything else unusual at the scene, drivers should check with Carson City Sheriff’s Office Dispatch before providing service.
• Member calls for ERS take priority over Extreme Tow calls.
• If an Extreme Tow call will have a long wait time, and the person cannot wait, the tow company can recommend one of the other tow companies or recommend the motorist arrange for a taxi cab ride.
PRECAUTIONS:
While the Extreme Tow program provides an excellent opportunity for Carson City Tow companies to make a positive contribution to the community, it also presents a risk, as intoxicated passengers may present a number of unique challenges. In dealing with Extreme Tow customers, it is especially important that Service Providers maintain professionalism and, as always, understand that your passengers are in a unique situation and are depending on you to get home safely.
When providing Extreme Tow services, in addition to following the same guidelines as you would in interaction with any Member, Service Providers should observe the following guidelines:
• Be aware that when providing Extreme Tow services, you may encounter customers with alcohol poisoning. Do not leave passengers at their destination if it is believed they are at risk. When you believe that a passenger may be suffering from alcohol poisoning you should advise Carson City Sheriff’s Office Dispatch.
• If a passenger becomes belligerent or is causing issues to the driver or others, contact and advise Carson City Sheriff’s Office Dispatch.
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Motor Unit wants to thank you for your commitment to this community and for the support of the 12th Annual “Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge” Battle Born 1864 Brews, Bikes & Bubbly!
