Carson City Fire Department called to fire at landfill
Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called early Wednesday evening to a fire at the landfill in the 3600 block of Flint Road off of Highway 50 East.
The fire was reported at 6:10 p.m. and was putting up a significant amount of smoke, according to several 911 calls. Multiple engines have responded to this incident. Motorists are advised to stay clear of the area.
A battalion chief on scene reports the fire itself is in a landfill construction pile, and, at this time, is not threatening nearby wild land brush and scrub areas.
A water tender arrived on scene and, according to a battalion chief, had doused most of the flames by around 6:50 p.m.
The landfill and areas around the landfill has experienced multiple fires in the past two years in which Carson City Fire Department has fought and stopped.
