British soccer camp coming to Carson City
With an innovative camp curriculum developed from the country that invented soccer — and a team of coaches who grew up eating, drinking and breathing the sport — Challenger Sports is bringing young players throughout the United States and Canada an up close and personal opportunity to experience the sport closest to Britain’s heart.
Continuing over 20 years of success as the most popular soccer camp in the United States and Canada, Challenger will be holding one of their highly regarded “British Soccer Camps” right here in the growing soccer community of Carson City.
Challenger Sports has teamed up with the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) local chapter 140 to host a week-long “British Soccer Camp” from June 20-24 at the Pete Livermore Sports Complex in South Carson City.
The camp will run Monday through Friday, and each child will be coached by a member of our elite team of 1,200 British soccer coaches, who have been hand-selected, trained and flown to the U.S. exclusively to work on these programs.
Challenger Sports will hold over 4,000 soccer programs this year, and coach more than 225,000 players between the ages of 3 and 19.
The mission is to provide all children with an opportunity to learn, grow and share a positive and educational camp experience that not only develops success on the field, but also inspires confidence, happiness and builds self esteem.
The key to any memorable childhood experience is fun, and the Challenger camp culture is centered around making learning fun.
The British coaching staff is famous for the way it is able to entertain, engage and educate the campers throughout the week.
Challenger’s unique 1,000 touches coaching syllabus provides an innovative daily regimen of foot skills, moves, juggling, tactical practices and daily tournament play that enhances technical skill.
But it’s not just about the game.
Challenger Sports uses soccer to teach Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Leadership and Sportsmanship, too.
Then there’s the ever popular Camp World Cup, bringing both friendly competition and cultural variety to each day.
The daily tournament gives campers the chance to represent a world cup team with extra points being awarded for showing team spirit, such as chants, wearing the team colours of their chosen country, creating flags, and learning as much as they can about their chosen country's culture.
AYSO 140 is offering “British Soccer Camp” sessions for the following age groups: ages 3-5 mini-soccer camp from 9-10:30 a.m., $92; ages 6-14 half day camp from 9 a.m. to noon, $130; and ages 7-14 full day camp from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., $192.
Area teams are also welcome to attend and receive a week of focused instruction to prepare them for the fall season.
Team Camp Rates are available. Please contact the local Northern Nevada Challenger Sports representative, Lee Dunne, for rates.
Each camper receives a free camp t-shirt, ball, soccer poster, and a personalized skills evaluation. In addition, any child who signs up online with Challenger at least 45 days prior to camp will receive a genuine British Soccer Replica Jersey.
