Man found shot to death in south Carson City, Washoe Tribe police investigating
UPDATE: A adult male was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds Friday morning in south Carson City on tribal land, said Washoe Tribe Police Chief David Blackeye. The case is being investigated as a homicide.
At around 6:15 a.m. a body was discovered inside a trailer and shots were heard in the 400 block of Wialaki Street. Emergency dispatch was notified and medics responded as did the Carson City Sheriff’s Office and Washoe Tribe Police Department, said Blackeye. The body of an adult male was discovered with several gunshot wounds on the victim.
The man was not a resident of the home, which is located in the Washoe Tribe boundary area just off of Curry Street, said Blackeye. The case is under investigation by Washoe Tribe Police Department and the FBI, which has law enforcement jurisdiction over tribal land. Because it happened on tribal land, it is not under Carson City Sheriff's Office jurisdiction. The man's identity has not been released.
