Carson City attorney Jackie Bryant to become Gov. Sandoval's deputy chief of staff
Carson City attorney Jackie Bryant will join Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval's team as Deputy Chief of Staff beginning Feb. 19. She will replace Ann Wilkinson, who has served as Sandoval's Deputy Chief of Staff since January 2011.
Wilkinson is leaving to return to the practice of law, effective Feb. 20.
Bryant, an attorney with Holland & Hart, has worked as the staff counsel for the Public Utilities Commission (PUCN), insurance counsel and hearing officer for the Nevada Division of Insurance, senior deputy attorney general for the Nevada Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection and as the general counsel to the Office of the Governor, according to a news release issued Friday.
“Jackie brings a wide breadth of experience in both state government and the private sector to my office,” Governor Brian Sandoval said in a press statement. “From her time in Las Vegas to her work in Carson City, I am confident Jackie will be a valuable asset to my staff. I am pleased she has agreed to serve the State in this manner.”
In her current position, Bryant actively practices before the PUCN representing government and corporate clients in rate cases, resource plans and rulemakings. She is well-versed in Nevada insurance law, including individual and corporate licensing issues, property and casualty insurance and health care reform. As a former member of the Nevada Health Care Reform Planning Group, Bryant was involved in implementing the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in Nevada, including developing regulations and establishing the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange.
Bryant is a graduate of California Western School of Law and the University of California at Irvine.
Sandoval also announced Friday that that Ann Wilkinson, who has served as his Deputy Chief of Staff since January 2011, is leaving his office to return to the practice of law, effective Feb.20. Wilkinson, who also served with Sandoval when he was Attorney General, will join the City of Reno.
“Ann has put my office on the right course and has worked tirelessly since day one to support not only my work, but the work of my staff and my Cabinet as well,” Sandoval said. “Ann has served as a trusted advisor, friend and confidant since my days in the Attorney General’s office. I will miss her wise counsel and I wish her the very best as she returns to the practice of law.”
