Carson City Fire Department knock down garbage truck fire that spread to field
Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called early Monday evening to the area of Little Lane for a fire that reportedly began on a Waste Management garbage truck.
At around 5:10 p.m. Carson City dispatch received multiple 911 calls regarding a garbage truck that was mobile and smoke coming from the back end.
A CCFD battalion chief on scene reports the garbage truck dropped its load that was on fire, which then sparked a small, 20 foot by 30 foot ground fire in a field near the Tanglewood Apartments that was quickly extinguished.
There are no reports of injuries or structures burned. The cause of the fire on the truck is unknown at this time. A fire investigator was called to the scene.
We will update this as information becomes available.
