Visiting Tibetan Monks to perform Healing Ceremony tonight at Carson City's BAC
The Tibetan Monks of Gaden Shartse have returned to Carson City to build the Manjushri (Buddha of Wisdom) sand mandala while they are visiting at the Brewery Arts Center.
The public is invited to watch this beautiful and meditative process from 10am to 6pm daily at the Brewery Arts Center.
Tonight, Thursday, Jan. 17, at 7 pm, they will also be holding a Chat Drol Healing Ceremony.
The description of the ceremony is as follows:
"Chay Drol Healing Ceremony Literally translated, 'Chay Drol' means to make free of obstacles. Chay Drol is a ritual that helps to remove the obstacles that prevent one from achieving enlightenment. A colorful and participatory ceremony. The procedure begins with the Lama going into deep meditation and generating himself in the form of a deity. He then places colored strings and pieces of cloth on various parts of the participant's body. Through ritual, the strings and pieces of cloth will be transformed to physically represent the obstacles of the participant. Finally, the Lama will use 'Wisdom Weapons' to cut the 'obstacles' from the participant, thereby freeing him/her and opening the door to liberation. A colorful and participatory ceremony."
