Carson City's Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital receives Pets of the Homeless recognition
Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital in Carson City received special recognition from the national nonprofit, Pets of the Homeless for donating pet food and supplies this year. More than $1,800 worth of food and supplies were donated, including 450 pounds of dry dog and cat food and 100 cans of dog and cat food, which was delivered to FISH (Friends In Service Helping) and dispersed to those in need.
Pets of the Homeless, a 501.C(3) nonprofit corporation, is an ongoing national effort to supply donated pet food to local people who cannot afford to properly provide for their pets. The Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital has been partners with Pets of the Homeless since May 2009 and their donations have added greatly to the over 504.23 tons of pet food donated since 2008. Your donations make it possible to continue to feed the pets of the homeless in Carson City that would otherwise go hungry.
Each year, 3.5 million experience homelessness and as many as 15-25 percent have pets. These companions are nonjudgmental, offer comfort and provide an emotional bond of loyalty. The Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital received special recognition is a result of their continued efforts to help those with pets in need.
More than 16,265 pets have been medically treated through the assistance of Pets of the Homeless, and 500 tons of pet food collected and distributed. There are more than 456 Donation Sites nationwide. Pets of the Homeless have provided over $568,555.00 in veterinary care to pets of the homeless.

They find solace, protection and companionship through their pets. They care for their pets on limited resources so they themselves have less.
