Tahoe Hockey Partners, LLC Brings WSHL Junior Hockey Team to South Lake Tahoe
Tahoe Hockey Partners, LLC announced today that newly formed Lake Tahoe Blue will play their inaugural Junior A hockey season at the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena as part of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the Western States Hockey League (WSHL). League preseason games start September 20 and the regular season starts October 4.
Season and single game tickets will be available at the Ice Arena and online at www.tahoehockey.net on a date to be announced.
Tahoe Hockey Partners, LLC was formed by Greg Jamison and Van Oleson. The Lake Tahoe Blue team general manager is Chris Collins.
Greg Jamison is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) San Jose Sharks.
“Hockey is our passion and we look forward to building a strong team and a strong fan base,” said Jamison. “We believe South Lake Tahoe will be a great hockey town for Lake Tahoe Blue and we are committed to making our team an important and fun part of this community.”
Van Oleson is one of the founders of South Lake Tahoe Sports and Entertainment, the private corporation that operates the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. Oleson also has a background in business development for Fortune 100 companies.
“Our Lake Tahoe Blue will bring that professional sports feel to our community and, at the same time, add new revenues for our city from outside visitors and creative events,” said Oleson. “Tahoe Sports and Entertainment's commitment is to continue investing in our community through sports, events and education. It will be great fun to cheer on and rally behind the home team.”
Chris Collins is a recognized international leader in the broadcast, digital streaming, content rights and sports business industries and has been very involved in youth, junior and professional hockey organizations.
"The 2013-14 WSHL Pacific Division will again be ultra competitive,” said Collins. “It's no secret how we’ve built our club. We believe net minding and special teams will determine our division's top club and those areas will be our focus for team strength."
"The WSHL is pleased to now have a team in South Lake Tahoe at the SLT Ice Arena where we have previously hosted our league college showcase,” said Ron White, WSHL commissioner. “This is a great market for us in our 20th season as one of the oldest and largest Junior A leagues in the country.”
