Memorial Day & The Price of Freedom
Memorial day honors all America's fallen hero's that sacrificed their lives to secure our liberty and freedom. We also honor and remember those that have recently fallen while battling the evil of tyranny. We honor and remember those that fight on the battlefields today, those that protect all of us from certain death and destruction. There are a few who do not remember nor understand what has happened and what is happening even now. Remind them. Tell them of the hero's from every American generation that have gone in harms way and of those that gave their last full measure of devotion so that no one need bow down to any man, kingdom, or country that champions the ancient tyrannies. We are free men, who need not bow because a sacred few have given their life for every one of us. Let us never forget. Let us honor their memory and their service forever.
Many countries in the world honor their military victories. In America it is different. Our fallen soldiers never went to war to win a victory over a people or a country. School children think we fought nations or the people of England, Spain, Germany, Italy and Japan. But that is not true and it never has been. America has always fought ideologies of tyranny. We fought imperialism, Nazism, Fascism and Communism. During the cold war we did not fight Russia nor even the Soviet Union. We fought the tyranny of Communist dictatorships. The proof of this is that the countries and people of the nations with which we fought still exist as free nations. Some cite this as proof that war changes nothing. That is a lie. In each war, tyranny was defeated. Though the ideologies of tyranny were destroyed, both the people and countries remain as a testament that America has always been a just and noble country. Unlike some countries of the world, American has never created an empire from defeated nations. Today, with tyranny defeated in the free countries and peoples throughout the world, we would well remember the brave and noble soldiers that laid down their lives for the gifts of freedom enjoyed by each and every one of us.
Now we fight Islamic tyranny in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our soldiers are dying, even as you read this, in fierce battle with those that would enslave all mankind. The servile among us would say this is pointless and there is no difference. Some would have us believe that we fight for nothing or for worldly goods or for the ego of our leaders. This is the lie that dishonors this sacred day of memoriam and all those that have ever fought for freedom. We fight for Freedom, not only for our families, not only for our nation but Freedom for all the world, Freedom!, for every man, woman and child. Freedom!, for all the generations that are to come. Let us never forget that Memorial Day is about honoring those that gave their lives so that we may all remain, forever free.
Today, and every memorial day, let every free man, throughout the world, stand up, remember, and shed at least a single tear in memorial to acknowledge the sacred holy gift that is, still, received from noble warriors. Lift your glasses today and toast all the noble warriors of freedom. May God bless, keep and protect all those that, even now, guarantee freedom to America and all the world. And as we remember, let us also pray that we shall always be free.
