John Barrette Announces Candidacy for Carson City Supervisor Ward 4
Carson City resident John Barrette announced that he will run for Carson City Supervisor Ward 4. The former reporter says helping to drive a robust future for the city’s residents is his top priority.
“As the state capital, our city needs to not only grow, but also to enhance its role in our state. My goal is to lure more businesses, upgrade technology and forge stronger infrastructure and services for residents.” he said adding, “I envision a vibrant community with strong manufacturing, light industries and government employee opportunities as we build a great past into an even brighter future.”
Barrette will bring a unique perspective to the board. His years as a reporter covering local government have allowed him to take a critical, unbiased look at Carson City issues. Barrette most recently worked at the Nevada Appeal.
Former Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi will serve as campaign manager.
“John’s vision, experience, intelligence and passion for service are just what Carson City needs. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge as a government observer to the table” he said.
Barrette says his priorities include upgrading streets, enhancing cultural opportunities, from the arts to outdoor recreation, and spurring local growth via sound policies and practices.
John and his wife Jean have lived in Carson City for the past eight years. They chose to move here over other western communities because of the area’s unique opportunities and qualities.
