GMG Foreign Auto Service began in 1974, and current owner Saeed Jazani took over the business in 1990. For the last 20 years, Jazani has been treating his customers like family, taking care of all their auto service needs.

Greenhouse Project Plant Sale

Carson City’s Greenhouse Project will hold a plant and yard sale on Saturday, May 19th from 8am to noon. Several varieties of seedlings and small plants will be available including tomatoes, peppers and petunias. The Greenhouse opened in December 2011, these plants are the first crops grown in the facility. There will also be a yard sale of donated items including restaurant supplies and household items. All money raised will benefit the Greenhouse Project.

The Greenhouse Project is located on the campus of Carson High School, 1111 N. Saliman in Carson City.

McKeen motor car to ride the rails for National Train Day

Celebrating National Train Day, the Nevada State Railroad Museum’s historic 1910 McKeen motor car will ride the rails from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 12 in Carson City.

Now a stellar attraction for rail enthusiasts and family fun, the McKeen Motor car operated from 1910 to 1945 racking up more than a half-million miles between Reno and Minden. The prestigious car became a diner and an office but was rescued by the museum when it was donated by the Bernhard family of Carson City in 1995.

15th Annual Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial ceremony

In conjunction with National Police Week, Thursday, May 3, 2012 the 15th Annual Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial ceremony will be held on the Capitol grounds in Carson City. The service will honor the 120 Nevada Peace Officers that have been killed in the line of duty. In 1998, the memorial was dedicated on the Capitol grounds to recognize the ultimate sacrifice these officers made in service of their communities.

Carson City SWAT Hosts 1st Annual Fundraiser

On Sunday, June 3rd, 2012 at 8:00 AM, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team will be hosting our first annual fundraiser “Zombie Shoot.” The proceeds of the fundraiser will go to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team to assist in the purchasing of emergency and tactical equipment for the unit.

Diamond Peak Dummy Downhill

Diamond Peak will continue the tradition of the Dummy Downhill on April 1, 2012. This will be the 12th year for the community’s favorite event of the season.

Participants build a dummy on skis or a snowboard that gets launched off a big jump on Showoff run. Categories include Best Crash, Longest Jump, Most Creative, Shortest Distance and whatever else the judges decide to make up.
