No explosives found at Carson City DMV after search; man jailed on unrelated charges
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 05/07/2013 - 3:47pmUPDATE: The Nevada Highway Patrol reports no explosives were found inside the DMV in Carson City after a disgruntled man left two packages inside on Tuesday afternoon.
A bomb squad from Douglas County did a sweep of the DMV and the Department of Public Safety building after it was evacuated, the Nevada HIghway Patrol reports. A 65-year-old Silver City man, Charles Leigh Self, was arrested on unrelated charges following the incident. The man was originally reported to be from Silver Springs.

The BBQ is being held at the backyard of 1001 Arrowhead Dr. from 1 to 4 PM. Cost is $20.00, children under 12 are free. There will be lots of food, raffle prizes and many other candidates for local offices that will also provide a brief statement of their qualifications and interests. August 1, 2012 - 6:00pm A Face in the Crowd, a film debuting Andy Griffith in his first major role, will be presented at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 1st, at the Carson City Library.
The film will be hosted by former state archivist Guy Rocha and Reno News and Review editor Dennis Myers. The movie was directed and produced in 1957 by Elia Kazan, and written by Budd Schulberg. This film, which launched Griffith into stardom in the lead role as Larry “Lonesome” Rhodes, also stars actors Patricia Neal, Anthony Franciosa, Walter Matthau, and Lee Remick.

July 28, 2012 - 7:00am Carson City’s Cycle Pub will take part in Saturday’s I-580 Freeway opening. The vehicle will be sponsored by Carson City Commercial Real Estate Agent Brad Bonkowski.
Bonkowski wants to call attention to the freeway opening, saying it is good news for Carson City. The faster commute time between Carson City and the I-80 manufacturing corridor will help the area attract small manufacturing and industrial businesses.
