Carson High Senators cycling team wins third straight meet
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Tue, 09/26/2023 - 5:40pmThe Carson Senators Cycling MTB team took the top step on the podium at the Walker River Rendezvous cross country mountain bike meet Sunday Sept. 24 at Walker River Recreation Area in Yerington.
Fifteen teams from northern Nevada and the eastern Sierra participated in the meet. With Carson taking 1st, Mammoth 2nd, and Galena 3rd.
Carson Tahoe Rugby to play inaugural game at Carson High School

Opinion: Travis Hunter's Heisman hopes dashed by Blackburn; society must be better

Playing both offense as wide receiver and defense as a cornerback, Travis has quickly put himself on the Heisman watchlist. His season, however, took a drastic turn last Saturday night when Colorado State senior defensive back Henry Blackburn delivered a very late and, by the naked eye, unnecessary hit to Hunter’s mid-section. Blackburn’s hit caused a laceration to Hunter’s liver and will put the Heisman hopeful on the bench to miss three crucial weeks according to the latest reports.

Each year dozens of aircraft come in from everywhere to park in Carson City and attend the air races in Reno. The front of the airport rarely has many aircraft but for this event the area becomes full. Mountain West typically has aircraft parked nearby but at air race time this parking is also full.
Bike rodeo brings wheels and fun to Mills Park
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Sat, 09/09/2023 - 11:22amOn Saturday, Muscle Powered, Safe Routes to School, and Mayor Lori Bagwell joined forces for a bike rodeo at Mills Park, during which riders of all ages could try out different wheeled-apparatuses, take home free helmets, discuss BMX, and much more.
“In years past, Muscle Powered has hosted bike rodeos and we are excited to re-strengthen our partnership with Western Nevada Safe Routes to School to bring back events that teaches kids about bike safety,” organizers wrote.
2nd Annual Dayton Valley Days Cornhole Tournament Benefitting Dayton Chamber Sept. 16

Silver Oak Senior Men’s Club President’s Cup Winners

What makes this competition unique is it’s played over two consecutive tournament Thursdays, but every player gets to use his best score from either round for each hole.
So, if a player has a blowup hole in one round but a better score in the other round, then the better score is used. It’s a fun experience that results in heavy bantering before and after each round.

Empire Ranch Golf Course in Carson City reopens following flooding
