Nevada Urban Indians honored with two prestigious Compass Rose awards
Nevada Urban Indians, Inc. (NUI) a leading advocate for American Indian and Alaskan Natives living in urban areas, proudly announces its receipt of two Compass Rose Awards in recognition of its outstanding contributions to social work and community welfare.
In celebration of National Social Work Month, NUI received the Compass Rose Relationship Award from the University of Nevada Reno, School of Social Work on March 14, 2024. This prestigious award displays the organization's commitment to embodying the core values of social work, fostering community support, and exemplifying corporate social responsibility. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto also commended NUI for its enduring dedication to serving the marginalized in our community.
Moreover, Janet Reeves, Chief Executive Officer of NUI, was honored with the Compass Rose Leadership Legacy Award, recognizing her remarkable 50+ years of leadership and service in the field of social work. Throughout her career, Janet has been a tireless advocate for disadvantaged Native populations, demonstrating dedication and cultural sensitivity in planning and executing numerous social and health programs in both California and Nevada.
